Rick Sanchez is a one of a kind alcoholic genius. He went missing for 20 years and then shows back up at his daughter’s home sporting his wild blue hair and white laboratory coat. While most everyone thinks he is bonkers, he drags his grandson Morty along through time and space on crazy adventures, and somehow Morty sticks by his grandfather’s side through it all. There’s no telling where or what Rick is up to next.
On the other side of the spectrum, Morty Smith isn’t quite as intelligent as his grandfather leads himself on to be, but he does teach Rick a thing or to on their adventures. Morty also puts up with his grandfather’s drinking habits and science experiments that will more than likely create a near-death experience for them both. Morty goes against his father’s wishes and continues to spend time with his lunatic grandfather.
The hilarious animated adult sit-com follows the adventures of the brilliant mad scientist Rick Sanchez and his less-than-genius grandson Morty Smith. First airing in 2013, the Cartoon Network show featured on Adult Swim has gained a cult-like following. What originally began as a parody short of the popular movie Back to the Future, Rick and Morty is often described as a cross between The Simpsons and Futurama.
After missing for nearly 20 years, Rick shows up at his daughter’s Beth and moves in, taking the garage as his personal laboratory. The alcoholic sociopath, Rick, begins dragging his grandkids Morty and Summer to other planets and dimensions in his flying car. Jerry Smith, Rick’s son-in-law, disapproves of Rick’s negative influence on his family. Justin Roiland and Dan Harmon created the first episode of Rick and Morty in just six hours after selling the pilot to Adult Swim.
