Ursula Costume

I have always been a huge fan of The Little Mermaid. For a few years, I’ve been thinking of making an Ursula costume and I decided this year would be it! It took a few months of drafting to get the black outer body just the right shape. This costume is completely handmade by me. The inside light purple is a fully lined dress with the black outer body attached at the bodice. There are straps hidden inside that go over the shoulders and attach to a metal right around the base of the black body to help hold up the tentacles. The tentacles have two rows of metal wires to help them curl, which are then attached to the metal ring at the base of the body. I hand cut different sized circles and cut a little slit in them, then overlapped and glued back shut to get the suctions correct. Then, I glued them to the underside of the tentacles. The outer black body is lined with a stabilizer to give it that crisp look and then stuffed full with polyfill. I drew the trident and crown myself, cut out of craft foam and spray painted gold. My daughter is modeling it.
