I am a huge fan of the dark grungy bad boy look for Halloween, and I feel like The Joker is the perfect costume to portray this look. I chose formal pieces from Macy’s to achieve that dapper style that the Joker wears so well. I mixed a gold watch, gold neck chains, gold rings, and bracelets from Ross and the thrift store to give some originality.
The makeup and hair were so exciting and a blast to do on this costume! I used MAC Cosmetics, going heavy and dark on the eyes to achieve that “haven’t-slept-in-days” look which is necessary for the intensity of the Joker’s features. I mixed red and burgundy for the lips. The damaged tattoo on my forehead was a temporary tattoo. I drew the J underneath my left eye, the star on my right temple, the Joker stomach tattoo, adding a smudging effect. The hand tattoo was a temp tattoo but I added some makeup for more vibrancy. I just used aluminum foil for the mouth grill. I sprayed my head with Sally Beauty’s BTZ Zoner green to get GREEN hair after styling with Suavecito Pomade.
What I love about this costume is the versatility! I was able to go dancing at the club after the Los Angeles Halloween Street Fair and felt so confident in my look! I got so many compliments on the makeup and execution of the Joker’s style. I entered the Falcon’s World Famous Halloween Costume Contest in Long Beach and got 1st place! I’m very proud of this costume and enjoyed it so much that I feel this was the best Halloween I’ve ever experienced!
