Lady Godiva Pawsitively Rides Again!

Lady Godiva Pawsitively Rides Again! Costume

I needle felted Ms. Godiva on an aluminum wire armature with roving wool fibers. The armature allows movement and posing of her figure. I made the costume as well. It is made with fleece fabric and corduroy for the hooves. The costume zips on along the underside of the tummy and chest area. Synthetic hair was used for the mane, fetlock and tail. A metal plate was sewn inside the costume at the saddle area. Ms. Godiva has strong magnets sewn to her bottom. This approach allows Ms. Godiva to stay securely atop her steed while at a brisk trot or the occasional shake of her mount. Her hair is mohair needle felted onto a thin synthetic batting to make the wig. The costume is also needle felted to better resemble horse’s hair. Too, padding was added at the rump to better resemble the hind quarter of a horse. The bridle is nylon webbing with metal rings for the bit. Maggie, the disguised horse, is a 10 year old golden doodle. She is the best accepting partner in donning costumes. Ms Godiva is a happy mature, full figure woman, unlike the Lady Godiva of lore. She is out for a ride on her “pawsitively” trusted steed.
