I purchased a yard of green neon cotton fabric for the body suit and half a yard of black cotton fabric for the small details such as, nose, pupils, tail, and ears. I stitch a grey zipper in the center of the chest, rather than drawing it out to give it a more “realistic” appearance. I used half a round styrofoam for the eyes, GIR has huge round eyes and I wanted them to stand/pop out. I layered the styrofoam with a white cotton cloth and used that to help me secure and stitch the eyes on the hoodie. Lastly, I added some buttons in the bottom area, like a baby onesie, so it would be easily removable. I chose to dress up my baby as GIR this year because he’s still considered cute, cool and popular. However, I knew I was going to have to put in some work in because Invader Zim costumes don’t exist. We see adults in GIR costumes but honestly, a baby GIR is a hundred times cuter! It had to be done!
