Shy Ronnie Cosplay Costumes
Though Shy Ronnie comes off as incredibly shy and awkward, he seems to come out of his shell as soon as Rihanna leaves the room. In Ronnie and Clyde, Rihanna successfully performs in the bank and robs them of their money. Shy Ronnie, however, awkwardly stands there trying to rap, but nobody can hear him. Now you can cosplay Shy Ronnie’s look by wearing a green turtle neck and striped sweater with a grey skirt and silk scarf. Accessorize with some red and blue striped socks, white sneakers, and a tan beret. Finally, no Shy Ronnie look would be complete without a pair of Aviator eyeglasses, a toy gun, and fake braces.
Shy Ronnie is nothing without his lovely sidekick, Rihanna. So grab a friend and dress as the duo and get ready to put on the most awkward performance of a lifetime. You can even grab some more friends and dress like the rest of the Lonely Island crew, including Akiva Schaffer and Jorma Taccone.
About Shy Ronnie
After the debut of Shy Ronnie on Saturday Night Live in 2009, the hilarious SNL skit became nominated for an Emmy in 2010 for Outstanding Original Music and Lyrics. Written by Rick and Monique Hines, the Rihanna and Shy Ronnie skit features The Lonely Island’s Andy Samberg and, of course, the iconic artist Rihanna. As the two are performing in front of a classroom of elementary students, Andy Samberg plays the part of Shy Ronnie, a bashful musician who has trouble speaking up when it’s his turn to rap a verse.
Shy Ronnie began with the comedy trio The Lonely Island, made up of Andy Samberg, Akiva Shaffer, and Jorma Taccone, which they formed in 2001. As they struggled to find work after college, the trio became some of the first performers to post their material on the internet. After a few failed pilots, the group finally became hired by SNL in 2005 which led to some of their award-winning shorts like Shy Ronnie and I’m on a Boat.
