Quote is the robot protagonist of Cave Story, a platform, shooting, and exploration game centered on a young hero who wakes in a hidden world. The Cave Story+ promotional art gives him a wonderfully recognizable look: a red cap with a pale front panel, green side earpieces and scarf, a black sleeveless top, and bright red trousers. He looks ready to explore, help save the day, and keep his scarf from getting caught on anything. A short silver blade appears in the art too, because apparently pockets are overrated.
Build the outfit with the red-and-white trucker hat, black tank top, red cargo pants, black belt, red gloves, dark brown boots, and bright green scarf. Add white makeup only to visible skin, not as a bodysuit. Green headphones make a handy base for craft-foam side earpieces, and four small silver foam dots suggest the cap fasteners. A foam dagger suggests the short blade. If you want to add the blue-gray Polar Star, make a simple cardboard version as an optional DIY prop. For a broader build idea, check out the general robot costume guide.
Quote Cosplay Ideas
Start with the black tank top and red cargo pants, then add the plain black belt with its silver buckle. The cargo pants give the outfit a practical shape while keeping the bright red color. Pull on the full-finger red gloves and dark brown work boots to finish the main outfit. Use the black belt and dark brown boots to finish the silhouette.
Wear the red-and-white trucker hat, then add four small silver craft-foam dots to suggest the front fasteners. Put on the bright green scarf and let it hang naturally. For Quote’s side earpieces, use the green headphones as a base. Cut two short sections from the green drinking straws, glue one small green pom-pom onto each tip, and tape one stem to the outside of each earcup. Keep them light and secure without covering the cushions or controls. Glue a pom-pom to each straw section, then attach one stem to each earcup. Apply the white body paint only to visible skin, such as your face, neck, and exposed arms or hands. The black tank top stays a tank top, not a white unitard in disguise.
A foam dagger suggests the short blade in the art. If you want to add the blue-gray Polar Star, make a simple cardboard version as an optional DIY prop. The general robot costume guide has more broad build inspiration.
Quote Halloween Costume FAQs
A few quick tips to make your Quote costume comfortable, recognizable, and ready for a day of exploring.
Use the green on-ear headphones as a base and attach short green craft-foam tabs to the outside of each cup. Keep them lightweight so the headphones stay comfortable.
Use it on visible skin, such as your face, neck, and exposed arms or hands. It is makeup, not a full-body clothing layer, so keep the black tank top as shown in the art.
No, they are a practical substitute for the smoother red trousers in the promotional art. The bright red color and dark belt help sell the look.
The 15-inch foam dagger is a safe approximation of the short silver blade shown in the art. Check event rules before bringing any prop.
No suitable safe, close-match prop was verified for this kit. Leave it out, or make a simple cardboard version as an optional DIY prop.
About Quote
Quote is the robot protagonist of Cave Story, a platform, shooting, and exploration game. Nicalis describes Cave Story+ as centering on a young hero who wakes in a hidden world. The selected Cave Story+ promotional art gives Quote a distinctive red cap with a pale front panel, green side earpieces, a black sleeveless top, a green scarf, red gloves and trousers, a black belt, and dark boots.
That bold color combination makes Quote a fun cosplay choice: the outfit is easy to recognize, and the scarf and unusual earpieces add personality without requiring a complicated build. The promotional art also shows a short silver blade and a blue-gray blaster. A separate Cave Story+ key-art image published by PC Gamer shows the outfit from behind, with the scarf flowing. This guide follows that promotional-art look and does not assume a particular game edition or add unsupported story details.
