Best Maverick Mitchell Costume Guide
In a role galvanized in American movie history by American superstar Tom Cruise, Lt. Pete “Maverick” Mitchell from the blockbuster movie Top Gun is a highly recognizable character to cosplay. In a role that can easily be pulled off by males and females, follow our costume guide to pull off his signature look. We recommend a Leg Avenue Top Gun Flight Suit over a French Toast Short Sleeve Tee.
Accessorize with a pair of Maverick Authentic Replica Stainless Steel Dog Tags and some dark aviator Sunglasses. For over the flight suit, we chose a Leg Avenue Top Gun Bomber Jacket that will look well with a sturdy pair of Metrocharm Military Boots.
Maverick Mitchell Cosplay Costumes
If you’re looking to cosplay a classic movie character, Top Gun’s Lt. Pete “Maverick” Mitchell is one worthy of consideration. While in our guide we paired together the flight suit and bomber jacket, you could feasibly choose one or the other for a successful look. If you choose the flight suit, a cheap pair of aviators and some dog tags will suffice. If you prefer the bomber jacket, pairing it with a white t-shirt over a pair of jeans will also give you Maverick’s time-honored look.
For group efforts, Top Gun has a healthy supply of pilots to choose from. You can include best friend LTJG Nick “”Goose”” Bradshaw or adversary LT Tom “”Iceman”” Kazanski. With a long list of nicknamed characters, including, Viper, Jester, Cougar or Hollywood, there are still nearly a dozen other characters to choose from and include in your group endeavor.
About Pete "Maverick" Mitchell
Centered around troubled US Navy Pilot Pete “Maverick” Mitchell, viewers are led to believe that the death of his father in the Vietnam war was the catalyst from which his issues were launched. While he is an extremely talented pilot, Maverick is reckless and unconcerned with the danger his actions put himself and others in. After, losing his best friend Goose in a flying accident, Maverick, though cleared of any wrongdoing blames himself for Goose’s death.
It seems as though Maervick can’t even find love without finding drama. Falling for Charlie Blackwood, Pete “Maverick” finds himself at odds with fellow pilot Tom “Iceman” Kazansky who is also in love with Charlie and unimpressed with Maverick’s daredevil personality. Losing Goose mellows out Maverick’s flying style and for a time he loses his confidence. Naturally he regains his composure after overcoming a scenario similar to what caused Goose’s death and rather than selecting any cushy assignment of his choice, Maverick chooses to usher in future generations of fighter pilots and returns to Top Gun as a flight instructor.
