About Motoko Kusanagi

Not much is known about the past of Major Motoko Kusanagi. Presently, she works as a commander of Public Security Section 9, a fictional division of Japan’s National Public Safety Commission as seen inGhost in the Shell. What is known of her past is that she was in a horrific cyberterrorist attack which nearly killed her. At the time, technologies were available that would allow humans to replace body parts with synthetic and prosthetic replacements. She was chosen for this experiment and almost her entire body was replaced.

This results in her having physical and mental abilities greater than anyone else. She has superhuman strength which gives her the ability to leap between skyscrapers, perform advanced acrobatics, and shoot down bullets after being fired at mid-range.
