Kung Fury Costume Tips & FAQs

Embrace the over-the-top action and 80s nostalgia as Kung Fury, the main character from the retro-styled martial arts comedy “Kung Fury.” This costume guide FAQ is designed to help you capture the essence of this martial arts master and police detective, known for his extraordinary kung fu skills and time-traveling adventures.

Kung Fury's look is a throwback to 80s action heroes. Key components include a red headband, a black tank top, a white jacket with a cobra emblem on the back, red fingerless gloves, blue jeans, and white sneakers. His outfit is completed with a police badge and a black belt with a large buckle.

The jacket should be white, reminiscent of the 1980s style, with a prominent cobra emblem on the back – a symbol of Kung Fury's martial arts prowess. Underneath, wear a simple black tank top, fitting snugly to showcase a muscular build typical of action heroes.

Opt for a pair of classic blue jeans, preferably in a straight-leg cut to match the 1980s style. The shoes should be white sneakers, typical of the era. Both should complement the retro action-hero vibe of Kung Fury's character.

To complete the look, don a red headband, which is iconic to Kung Fury's character. Red fingerless gloves will add to the 80s action hero aesthetic. For hair, aim for a messy, wind-swept style, or consider a wig if necessary. Don't forget to include a police badge to reference his role as a cop.

Including Kung Fury's quotes can add an extra layer of authenticity to your costume. Some memorable lines include: "I'm a cop and damn good at my job. It all began years ago, in the line of duty.," "I don't want to hear it, Kung Fury. I just got back from City Hall. 50 million dollars worth of damages, and I've got the mayor up my ass like a fag on Viagra.," "I'm disarming you.," "My job is to stop him, and that's exactly what I'm going to do." and "I'm going to go back in time to Nazi Germany and kill Hitler once and for all." These quotes capture Kung Fury's fearless attitude, his commitment to justice, and the film's unique blend of absurdity and action-hero clichés.

About Kung Fury

At some point in the 80’s, Kung Fury joined the Miami police force where he mentored under a man named Dragon. On one of their police chases, Kung Fury and Dragon were hunting down a kung fu master.
