The Big Lebowski is a 1998 comedy film written, produced, and directed by Joel and Ethan Coen. Starring Jeff Bridges in the lead character as Jeffrey “The Dude” Lebowski, a Los Angeles slacker. Due to the case of mistaken identity, The Dude is assaulted after which he discovers that a millionaire with the same name was the intended victim. When the millionaire’s wife gets kidnapped, The Dude is commisioned to deliver the ransom to secure her release.
Not surprisingly, the plan goes awry when the Dude’s friend, Walter Sobchak, has plans to keep the ransom money for himself. Upon its release, The Big Lebowski didn’t fare too well at the box offices. This changed over time and the reviews have become increasingly positive. Today the film has become a cult classic because of the idiosyncrasies of the characters and their interplay. The movie has hilarious dialogue and an eclectic soundtrack.
