Jay Gatsby Cosplay Costumes

If one thing is for certain when Baz Luhrmann is directing a film, it is the quality of costumes involved. Known for his grandiose productions, he always ensures the set designers and costume department are working overtime to realize his vision. The Great Gatsby is no exception, and Jay Gatsby may just be one of the suavest characters in a Luhrmann film to date. Played expertly by Leonardo Dicaprio, Gatsby has plenty of money in the bank but nothing in his heart since losing the love of his life, Daisy. He does have other women in his life, but has never forgotten the one that got away.

About Jay Gatsby

Jay Gatsby is the main character in F. Scott Fitzgerald’s 1952 novel The Great Gatsby. When the book was adapted for the big screen by director Baz Luhrmann in 2013, there was no better movie star to play the role than Leonardo Dicaprio, a favorite of Luhrmann. Dicaprio does a terrific job of bringing to life this character who claims to be a war hero, Oxford graduate and wealthy businessman. Despite his wealth, Gatsby longs for the love of a woman he lost years before, Daisy.

He is known for holding big parties in the hope that Daisy will one day attend. Instead, he ends up meeting her cousin (who narrates the film), and drags him into a world of intrigue where mistresses and affairs are commonplace and true love seems out of reach. While he is successful in reconnecting with Daisy, he ends up dying at the hands of his other lover’s jilted husband.
