About Gus Fring
On the television show Breaking Bad, Gustavo “Gus” Fring is a crime lord and drug kingpin living in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He also owns Los Pollos Hermanos, a hugely successful fast food chain specializing in fried chicken. These restaurants act as a front for his drug dealing business. Gus Fring eventually meets Walter White in his restaurant to do business with him. Walter meets him through his lawyer, Saul Goodman who “knows a guy who knows a guy who knows a guy.”
Gus Fring’s success in the illegal drug trade is due to his constant vigilance, constraint, and calculated decisions. He chooses each of his partners by how careful and dependable they are. He depends heavily on Mike, his right-hand man. While he is somewhat compassionate in caring for the employees who serve him well, he is also ruthless and has killed not just employees, but dealers and associates. His only weakness is his hatred of Hector Tio Salamanca, which ultimately led to his demise.
