General Leia Organa Costume Tips & FAQs

Embark on a journey through the Star Wars universe with our General Leia Organa costume guide FAQ from “The Last Jedi.” Discover how to capture the essence of the iconic and revered leader of the Resistance, as we answer your top questions about creating a costume that pays homage to her strength and elegance.

General Leia's costume in "The Last Jedi" features an elegant, long-sleeved, full-length gown in a soft, muted color, often grey or blue. The gown has a high collar and subtle, refined detailing. Accessories include Leia's signature hairstyle, understated jewelry, and a belt that complements the gown.

In "The Last Jedi," Leia's hairstyle is a sophisticated, twisted updo. To recreate it, section your hair into multiple parts, twist each section, and pin them up at the back of your head. You may also use a wig styled similarly for ease and accuracy.

Choose a flowing fabric with a slight sheen, like satin or silk, to replicate Leia's gown. The design should be simple yet elegant, with clean lines and minimal embellishments. Pay attention to the high collar and long sleeves, ensuring they fit comfortably and maintain the dignified appearance of the character.

Opt for simple, low-heeled shoes that match the color of the gown. The shoes should be comfortable and understated, as they are not a focal point of the costume. Flats or modest heels in a neutral color like grey, blue, or black are ideal.

Adding quotes from General Leia can bring an extra layer of authenticity to your costume. Memorable lines include: "Hope is like the sun. If you only believe in it when you see it, you'll never make it through the night.," "We have everything we need.," "To me, she's royalty" and "May the Force be with you." These quotes capture Leia's wisdom, resilience, and enduring hope, embodying the spirit of her character and enriching your portrayal.

About General Leia Organa

Leia Organa played a vital role in saving the galaxy from falling into the hands of the dark side. Of course, as the daughter of the Chosen One, Leia possessed a strong sense of the Force along with her twin brother, Luke Skywalker. Unlike Luke, however, Leia didn’t finish her training in becoming a Jedi Knight and, instead, used the Force to guide her decisions and sense her brother’s presence. In her final moments, Leia used the last of her strength to use the Force and call out to her son, Ben Solo. This final act helped redeem her son and bring him back from the dark side.

Played by Carrie Fisher, Leia Organa first appeared in the Star Wars franchise in 1977 at the age of 19. Thirty years later, Carrie Fisher appeared again as General Leia in Star Wars: The Last Jedi. Unfortunately, Fisher tragically died in 2016 after filming for the movie.
