Future Marty McFly Costume Tips & FAQs

Get ready to jump into the world of tomorrow with our Future Marty McFly costume guide FAQ, inspired by “Back to the Future Part II.” This guide is your ticket to nailing Marty’s iconic futuristic look as he explores the year 2015, blending retro charm with a vision of the future.

Future Marty's outfit is a standout mix of 80s fashion and imagined future trends. Key elements include a color-changing, self-drying jacket with automatically adjusting sleeves, a pair of inside-out jeans, and a two-tone, auto-lacing high-top sneakers. The ensemble is topped off with a holographic, color-shifting baseball cap and futuristic-looking sunglasses.

While the exact self-lacing sneakers (Nike MAGs) might be a collector's item, you can find replicas or use regular high-top sneakers and modify them with LED lights for a futuristic effect. For the jacket, look for a red or maroon bomber jacket and modify it with additional fabric or paint to mimic the color-changing effect. The key is to capture the jacket's multi-textured, vibrant look.

A few critical accessories for Future Marty's costume are a replica of the hoverboard he uses in 2015, a pair of futuristic sunglasses with a clear or lightly tinted visor, and a digital watch. If you can, add a toy or a model of the famous DeLorean time machine for a complete time-traveler effect.

Marty McFly sports a casual, slightly tousled hairstyle typical of the late 80s. If your hair is longer, aim for a tousled, lightly gelled look. If it's shorter, consider using a wig that resembles his hairstyle.

To really get into character, consider using some of Marty's quotes from the film, such as: "The future, it's where you're going?," "Whoa, this is heavy.," "Hey, Doc, we better back up. We don't have enough road to get up to 88.," "I'm just trying to understand why it's gotta be me that goes back to 1955." and "Great Scott!." These quotes capture Marty McFly's adventurous spirit and his reaction to the exciting, sometimes bewildering future.

About Future Marty McFly

Marty was born in Hill Valley to parents George Mcfly and Lorraine Baines and one of the things he was known in his current timeline for was being a musician that started the Pinheads.

While Marty may not be an outcast himself to everyone, his family is known as one of the most uncool families that there could possibly be and that causes him quite a bit of bullying.

While Marty may have been living a normal life, that changed on October 26, 1985, after he witnesses ‘Doc’ Brown’s time travel machine. The time machine was quite successful but the only problem was where Brown borrowed the plutonium from and that was from none other than from a Libyan terror cell. Later that night, they find him and shoot him down which is when Marty jumps in the time machine to escape them and heads back to the last time Brown had set. Marty doing this causes quite the chain of events that changes his life.
