About Fish Mooney

The Gotham television series on FOX was a precursor of the storyline of the principal characters in DC Comics’ Batman. The young Bruce Wayne, later to become Batman, is also featured in this series. The series developed the background of some of the most iconic arch-villains—The Penguin, The Riddler, The Joker, and other eccentric criminals originating from the Batman franchise. Developed by producer Bruno Heller, the character Fish Mooney, played by actress Jada Pinkett Smith, was introduced as a galvanizing criminal element in the series.

The series begins by introducing James Gordon, a new recruit with the Gotham City Police Department. He is paired with detective Harvey Bullock to solve the murders of Thomas and Martha Wayne. This is the origins of Batman. A flashback to young Bruce Wayne as his parents are murdered in cold blood. As the series progresses, Gotham introduces key characters that are brought to light in the Batman storyline.
