Dr. Heinz Doofenshmirtz is a mad scientist, although he’s not a very successful one. Forty-seven years old with little to show for it other than a long list of failed evil plots, Doofenshmirtz is constantly looking for new ways to prove that he is an evil villain to be reckoned with. For a scientist, he isn’t very intelligent, and his plans to wreak havoc around the world are never well thought out. Doofenshmirtz blames his desire to carry out evil acts on a childhood of neglect and humiliation.
Doofenshmirtz plans are always foiled by Perry the Platypus, his arch nemesis. Doofenshmirtz enacts his evil plans in the way that most stereotypical villains do; he enjoys dramatic monologues, complicated destructive inventions, and maniacal laughing. Despite Doofenshmirtz’ obsession with being the ultimate mad scientist, he occasionally displays his softer side and helps out Perry the Platypus.
