About Doctor Ellie Sattler

Dr. Ellie Sattler is a paleobotanist, and the former girlfriend of renowned paleontologist Alan Grant. Ellie is extremely intelligent and a talented professional in the field of archeology. At one time she wanted to have children with Alan Grant, but he was more interested in focusing on his work. Both Ellie and Alan were approached by John Hammond, the creator of Jurassic Park, and asked to visit the park. In return, Hammond offered to pay for their dig site for three years. Ellie and Alan accepted his offer.

A power outage at Jurassic Park left Ellie and the rest of the visiting group trapped on the island, with the once confined dinosaurs free to roam the park. Ellie was forced to fight her way through the park, escaping a variety of carnivorous dinosaurs – like the vicious velociraptors – until she and Alan were rescued. After the events at Jurassic Park, Ellie left Alan and married Mark Degler. They have two children together. Despite the end of Ellie’s and Alan’s relationship, the two remain very close.
