About Dr. Alan Grant
Dr. Alan Grant is someone who believes strongly that the only way to be involved in paleontology is to take a hands-on approach to it instead of watching from a distance. He uses to dig dinosaurs in Montana with Ellie Sattler and this was funded by Hammond Foundation which explains why he participated in assessing the park.
When you look at the novel version, it’s clear to see why Grant is one of the main protagonists in it. While his moral views may not be the best, he does have the conscious to try and keep all the people alive after havoc runs amok in the park. Grant also feels quite responsible for the dinosaurs once they have taken to living and he tries looking out for them the best he can while remaining safe. Grant is rooted in his reality and he knows that his actions have consequences so he tries to be smart about the choices he will make.
