Darth Vader didn’t start out as an evil Sith Lord in the Star Wars universe—he was once an ordinary human who served as a Jedi Knight. His name was once Anakin Skywalker, and he was a happy husband and soon to be a father, but soon after, his life began to crumble in front of his own eyes. Skywalker saw in his mind’s eye that his wife would die from childbirth, and he began to do whatever he could to protect her from harm. In doing so, Anakin was introduced to the Dark Side and lead to believe he couldn’t escape its grasp.
Skywalker turned into Darth Vader by betraying the Jedi Order in hope to save his wife and unborn child, but this only brought further darkness into his life and led him to become the Sith Lord known as Darth Vader. From there, he was succumbed by evil and was never capable of finding the good in others or himself.
