The Beloved aardvark, Arthur Read, has been popular among children audiences since the mid-1990’s. The popular PBS cartoon show, Arthur, has had a recent rebirth on the meme circuit. If you’re looking to attend your next costume party as a classic book character, Arthur is an excellent choice! Follow this cosplay guide, and we’ll show you how to pull off his signature look.
Start with fuzzy Bear Ears and a pair of Round Circle Lenses. Then, wear a Men’s Dress Shirt beneath a Yellow V-Neck Pullover Sweater matched with a pair of Men’s Relaxed-Fit Chinos. Cap off the costume with a retro pair of Converse All-Star Sneakers, and you have the lovely look of the children’s storybook character.

For those who are still in the dark about this, Arthur is an anthropomorphic aardvark. With the exception of a couple of accessories, you can put this look together fairly easily. Wear a bright yellow sweatshirt or sweater over a white long sleeve collared shirt with a pair of blue jeans and you’ll nail the clothing portion of this cosplay. If you run into trouble finding his trademark yellow sweater, Arthur has also been known to wear a red, long sleeve, rugby shirt on the popular PBS cartoon show.

About Arthur
Arthur Timothy Read is your average 3rd grader. He’s polite and friendly and has a best friend in Buster Baxter. Like any other kid, he makes mistakes, doesn’t always listen to his parents, and can be mean to his little sister DW. He is an accomplished pianist, when he puts his mind to it, but mediocre when he doesn’t. He plays the piano in a band made up of his best friends.
Arthur is also athletically gifted. He competes on his school bowling, soccer, track, and baseball teams. He was also instrumental in starting the Lakewood Pride Committee, a school spirit club. While book smart, Arthur doesn’t always use common sense, much to the annoyance of his parents. He has a love-hate relationship with his little sister DW. Even though she gets on his nerves, he’s quick to come to her defense when she needs her big brother’s help.
