Andy Bernard is a fictional character played by Ed Helms in the NBC television comedy series, The Office. Born and raised in Simsbury, Connecticut, his actual birth name is Walter Bernard Jr. As a regional director in sales, Andy is insecure, self-centered, and somewhat arrogant. He is kind to his co-workers and enjoys giving his them nicknames. His anger issues worsened during The Office. In one episode, he made a hole in the wall in the office after a prank went wrong. He formed several relationships with co-workers, none of which to which worked out in the end. Andy is later promoted to a regional manager until he is replaced. Reportedly he hid from the view of the camera in one episode because he could not stop laughing. Most fans were not happy with his storyline wishing that he ended up in a steady relationship.
