How to Make a Butterfly Costume
This costume splits “butterfly” into two visible pieces: the butter-yellow tunic supplies BUTTER, and the pale butterfly cape supplies FLY. The tunic’s existing plain label keeps the costume literal.
Wear the soft cape with both wrist loops on your hands. Hold your arms gently outward so the fabric wings spread behind the tunic while its BUTTER word faces the camera; this is distinct from Social Butterfly.

Butter + Fly Costume Materials
From the Kit
The Butter Yellow Tunic supplies the printed butter wrapper, and the Light Yellow Butterfly Wings are a soft cape with wrist loops. The tunic already shows BUTTER, so a separate label or net-weight line is not needed.
From Home
Wear dark leggings and comfortable shoes from home. Keep the tunic label unobstructed and choose a clear space where the cape can open without catching on furniture.
Keep the label clear
Smooth the tunic front and avoid necklaces, hair or the cape covering its printed BUTTER word.
Spread the cape gently
Hold both wrist loops and use a comfortable arm extension. The fabric should drape naturally without rigid support.
Wear the Butter + Fly costume
Fit the tunic first, then put on the cape and test its wrist loops. Finish in a pose that keeps the printed word visible with the wings spread.

Try on the butter tunic
Put on the Butter Yellow Tunic over dark leggings and check how it sits at the shoulders and sides. Smooth its front so the existing BUTTER print faces forward.
Read the word from a few steps away. The tunic already has its label, so there is no need to cut or attach another one.
Check: The tunic fits comfortably and its printed BUTTER word is visible.

Put on the soft butterfly cape
Place the pale yellow butterfly cape across your shoulders and upper back over the tunic. Let the fabric hang naturally rather than trying to hold it up with a rigid support.
Check that each wrist loop is within easy reach and that the cape does not cover the front label.
Check: The soft cape rests over the shoulders and both wrist loops are accessible.

Test the wrist loops
Slip one wrist loop over each hand and gently extend your arms outward. The loops should spread the fabric into wings without pulling uncomfortably at the shoulders.
Lower and raise your arms once to check that the cape moves with your hands and stays comfortably in place.
Check: Both hands hold the loops and spread the soft wings comfortably.

Pose with both halves visible
Turn to a three-quarter angle and face the tunic’s printed BUTTER word partly toward the camera. Keep both hands in the wrist loops and extend them enough to reveal the wing shapes.
Take a test photo and adjust your angle until the label reads clearly and the soft cape remains attached to both hands.
Check: The BUTTER print faces the camera while both cape loops spread the wings.
Quick Fixes
The printed word is hard to read
Smooth the tunic front and turn it toward the camera. Keep hair and cape fabric away from the existing BUTTER print.
The wings disappear in the pose
Hold both wrist loops and extend your arms gently outward. Turn to a three-quarter angle that shows the soft wings and keeps BUTTER facing the camera.
Butterfly Cosplay Costumes
For a clear photo, face the tunic label toward the camera and hold both wrist loops outward. A three-quarter angle shows the butter word and the fabric wings together.
Choose a clear background and a comfortable arm position. Lower the loops between photos so the cape is not held under tension for long periods.
Butterfly Costume FAQs
These answers cover the practical choices that keep the Butter + Fly joke readable and distinct.
This design uses a literal Butter + Fly split: a butter-yellow tunic with a plain BUTTER label and butterfly wings. It does not use a socialite, party, or networking interpretation.
No. The selected tunic already has a plain BUTTER print. Wear it as supplied and keep the front clear in photos; no net-weight line or added package artwork is needed.
Hold both wrist loops with your arms gently extended. Turn to a three-quarter angle so the printed BUTTER word faces the camera and the soft wings stay spread.
Use ordinary leggings and shoes from home. Choose colors that do not compete with the yellow tunic, label, or pale wings.
Smooth the tunic front, move hair and the cape away from the print, and turn toward the camera so the BUTTER word is unobstructed.
About Butterfly
The pun divides butterfly into “butter” and “fly.” The purchased tunic already reads BUTTER, while the pale yellow wrist-loop cape supplies the butterfly wings.
The cape moves with the wearer’s hands. Holding both loops outward gives the soft fabric a clear wing shape while leaving the butter label visible, keeping the idea distinct from Social Butterfly.
