Costumes With a Ponytail
A ponytail can do more than keep your hair back. Try Misty’s side ponytail, Kim Wexler’s neat curl or Leela’s high purple sweep, then build the clothes around that recognizable detail.

Pick the Ponytail Position First
A side ponytail makes Deb or Misty different from a high centered tail like Leela’s. Kim Wexler’s tidy curled end belongs with her tailored office clothes, while Agnes’s upright tuft adds playfulness to a simple pair of overalls.
Keep an Everyday Style Simple
Begin with the tie and parting, then add the outfit. A pink polo, striped shirt or office suit gives the hairstyle a recognizable character without elaborate hair construction.
Build Animated Height Gradually
For a tall or long cartoon tail, use a lightweight hairpiece rather than pulling your own hair tighter. Leela needs a purple sweep; Shimmer and Shine use bright, high tails. The color and placement matter more than an exact sculpted shape.
Costumes With a Ponytail FAQs
Does a side ponytail count?
Yes. Misty and Deb Bradshaw are especially recognizable side-ponytail choices. Position the tie before finishing the rest of the costume so the tail falls on the intended side.
Are pigtails and braids included?
This page focuses on one ponytail. Two tied tails are pigtails, and a braided hairstyle has its own collection. Choosing the right page helps you find an outfit that suits the hair you actually want to wear.
Which ponytail costumes use ordinary clothes?
Deb starts with a pink polo and jeans, Agnes with a striped shirt and overalls, and Kim Wexler with office clothes. Their hair placement and one or two accessories finish the character.
Do I need long hair?
Not for every choice. Sokka has a short raised tail, while Agnes has a small upright one. A long sweep like Leela’s or Samus’s may need a ponytail extension or a wig if your hair is shorter.
Can I wear the same ponytail with a different hair color?
Usually the outfit still does much of the work. For colorful characters such as Leela, Shimmer and Shine, the hair color is a major cue; a colored hairpiece makes those looks much clearer.
How do I keep the ponytail comfortable?
Use a tie that holds without pulling at your scalp. If you add an extension, anchor its weight securely and try the finished style before the event. Bigger animated shapes can be simplified while keeping their position and color.

Sources & How We Choose
We compare the character artwork, hairstyle and clothing in each linked costume guide. Hair color and style refer to the pictured outfit; alternate versions may look different. This page includes single ponytails and bubble ponytails; braids, pigtails, buns and unclear half-up styles are excluded.

Build the Costume Around Your Ponytail
Set the ponytail position before you finish the outfit. A side tie points toward Deb or Misty, a neat curled tail toward Kim, and a high colorful sweep toward Leela. Once that detail feels right, add the few clothes that make the character clear and keep the hairstyle comfortable enough to wear through the event.
